Why Casemiro was missing for Man Utd vs Sunderland

Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has confirmed that Casemiro was sidelined for the goalless Premier League draw against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light due to a minor injury. Speaking after the match, Carrick assured that the Brazilian midfielder’s issue is not serious: “Case, he’ll be fine for next week, it’s nothing major.”

The Red Devils played out their first scoreless league game of the season on the road, creating a couple of clear chances late on but unable to find the net. With Champions League qualification already secured, United currently sit on 65 points and aim to reach the 70-point mark in their remaining fixtures.

Casemiro is expected to return for the final home match of the campaign against Nottingham Forest, where he will look to finish strongly before his contract expires on June 30, making him available on a free transfer.
