A field of 13 will contest the second race at Yarmouth, the 415 Handicap over the minimum trip. William Haggas and Cieren Fallon team up with Kinswoman, who showcased consistent form last year with three wins and several placed finishes. This daughter of Mehmas holds an entry in the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot and will need a strong performance here to justify that assignment.
Robert Cowell’s Almaty Star returned to turf successfully last month after multiple placed efforts on the all-weather this winter. He seeks to improve his record to 2-2 over this course and distance. Grandlad, returning from a 132-day layoff, won at Nottingham last month, beating today’s rival Nogo’s Dream by a head. Both are worth watching, along with Alondra, Rocking Ends, and Naana’s Sparkle.
6.30 Newton Abbot – In-Form Move With The Beat Targets Hat-Trick
Four runners line up for the Racing Welfare Supporting Mental Health Awareness Handicap Chase over two miles and five furlongs. Jamie Snowden’s Move With The Beat is in top form, seeking a third consecutive win. After a slow start for the yard, the seven-year-old won comfortably at Ludlow in January. Following a below-par run at Taunton, he has secured back-to-back victories over slightly shorter trips and now steps up in distance.
Joe Tizzard’s Siam Park showed promise last year but has struggled recently. Tizzard hopes the longer trip will help the seven-year-old regain his form. Paul Nicholls’ Inca De Lafayette ended last season with a convincing 22-length win at Plumpton. Freddie Keighley takes the reins here. Jonjo and A J O’Neill saddle Anyharminasking, winless for over a year but sporting first-time blinkers in this four-horse field.
7.12 Bath – Moon Over The Sea Aims to Defy Penalty
Six runners contest the Sky 415 Handicap over an extended 11 furlongs. Tony Carroll’s Moon Over The Sea seeks a hat-trick despite a penalty. After solid all-weather runs this winter, the seven-year-old returned to turf with a win over course and distance last month, followed by another success over the same trip last week.
Nikki Evans and Hollie Doyle team up with Virtual Hug, who also won over course and distance nine days ago. The eight-year-old carries a 4lb penalty for his seventh career win. Joe Ponting’s Endofastorm has finished second twice recently and aims to go one better with Millie Wonnacott aboard. Knightmare, Lady Aiyana, and Seamus Mullins’ Basilette complete the field.
