Miwa Harimoto (17, Kinoshita Group), who won a silver medal in the women’s team event at the Paris 2024 Olympics, updated her Instagram on April 12 to reflect on the World Table Tennis Championships team competition, where Japan claimed silver for the sixth consecutive time.

“This tournament was fought with a different lineup from two years ago, but I’m very proud of this team. Regardless of whether we played or not, all the athletes supported each other, creating the best environment to strengthen our teamwork. I was able to play in every match, and I competed with a sense of gratitude,” Harimoto wrote.

She added, “I was determined to make use of what I learned two years ago. This tournament was a completely different experience and memory. I’m disappointed that we didn’t win the gold medal, but I will continue to work hard and keep challenging myself. I want to stand at the top and see a different view.”

Harimoto closed her post with words of thanks: “I was able to fight through with the support of the entire Japan team, coaches, and staff. Thank you for your support. And thank you to everyone who cheered for Japan late into the night!”
